Have you ever looked up at the stars and wanted to know the names of the brightest starts? What/if any planets are visible? In just one session with you, our promise is that you be introduced to the most well-known constellations in the northern hemisphere and that by the end of our session you yourself will know at least five of them. Navigate the night sky using our fun and intuitive ‘star hopping’ technique.
Highlights include:
• The Gold Tier Kerry International Dark Sky Reserve | we are in the heart of the Reserve
• Star hopping | we start by getting to know the pole star and some circumpolar constellations
• The Milky Way| learn where the Milky Way is to be seen in the night sky
• Meteor, meteoride, meteorite| what these and other celestial terms mean
• Star gazing and moon phases | the best apps for finding stars, planets and other celestial bodies
• Telescopes | look through our telescopes and binoculars. You may also hire a telescope
• Archaeology by night| an option to visit ancient sites with our archaeologist Aoibheann Lambe
• Light pollution awareness|learn of the importance of light to the wellbeing of the natural world
• Photographs | astrophotography tips and photos of you enjoying the night sky
